U19 Lacrosse Foundation

The award program endowed by the 2008 U19 World Lacrosse Foundation

The award aims to support initiatives that promote the development of youth field lacrosse in BC and the pursuits of BC athletes to compete at higher levels.

This year the Board of Directors were faced with the highest number of applicants since its inception.  After much deliberation the Foundation selected 4 high performance athletes striving to compete at international, national and elite levels.  Additionally the board granted funding to one minor association that is determined to revive a dormant field lacrosse club in their community.  The 2012 recipients are:

  • Reegan Comeault, Team Canada, FIL U19 Men’s World Championships (Turku, Finland, July 2012)
  • Jonathan Rachfall, Team Germany, FIL U19 Men’s World Championships (Turku, Finland, July 2012)
  • James Rahe, Team BC, First Nations Cup (Oshawa, Ontario, August 2012)
  • Tanner Rennich, Burnaby Mountain Selects, Senior Elite
  • Vancouver Killarney Minor Lacrosse Association


The board would like to congratulate the recipients and extend a thank you to all applicants

The Foundation Board has again met review applications for funding for the 2011 year. All of the applications were well received with funding ultimately given to the following players

  • Liam Drabiuk of Vernon
  • Dakota Hollister of Cranbrook
  • Ryan Landels of Vernon
  • Tanner Rennich of Cranbrook


All four of these young men will be using their funding to assist them in their goals of participating in the Team BC U19 & U16 programs.

The Foundation Board was impressed by the quality of all the applications and ultimately awarded funding to three recipients;

  • Chalane Morrison, who will be participating with Haudenaussaunee Women’s Under-19 team at the 2011 FIL U-19 Women’s Lacrosse World Championships in Hannover, Germany.
  • Challen Rogers, a U19 Team BC member heading to Saskatchewan for the 2010 Nationals.
  • Penticton Minor Lacrosse, a club which previously sent its players to other communities to play field lacrosse but is now focusing on establishing its own sustainable program.
